Due to the nature and origin of health care waste, it is essential to handle, classify, store, remove and subsequently destroy it in order to minimise or eliminate the risk it may pose to people and the environment. For this reason, current legislation establishes the obligation to correctly manage health care waste throughout its life cycle.

Hospitals, clinics and polyclinics, dentists, private medical practices, tattooists, veterinarians, among others, are areas where healthcare waste management services are required.
